Marjan van Loon: Innovation in Gas

The Gas/Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) business is changing as a result of changing markets, an evolving competitive landscape, environmental pressures and supply developments. Shell is offering a broad range of technical solutions to be able to meet these various challenges by putting a lot of effort in innovation. The latest developments in Gas/LNG technology will be shared by showing several examples for which proven technologies have been combined with innovative ideas.

Marjan is Vice President of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) in Shell Projects & Technology, responsible for technical support to LNG projects, including new business opportunities. She joined Shell in 1989 and has worked both in the oil and gas sector, in a large variety of technology, operations and change management roles. She also acts as a Technical University Eindhoven campus ambassador for Shell and is member of the Oil & Gas Board of KIvI.

Marjan was born and raised in Helmond. She holds a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University Eindhoven. She started her career in Shell as process engineer in the Gas Treating and Distillation groups and then moved to the Shell Pernis refinery in The Netherlands, working in operations. In 1997, Marjan took up an assignment in Australia to work on the LNG Plant in Karratha in several positions in technology, operations and planning, latest as Technology Manager. She moved to Kuala Lumpur early 2005 to lead Shell’s LNG & Gas Processing group in Asia Pacific. In August 2007, she returned to The Netherlands and took up the position of Global Manager LNG & Gas Processing. Mid 2009 Marjan was appointed Vice President LNG. More on Marjan.

Liesbeth Vriens: Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Liesbeth will present tools and techniques to define innovative scenarios for building your own business or implementing corporate innovation. Liesbeth will also share her own ‘lessons learned’ and will present the ‘highlights’ of visionary entrepreneurs she admires.

She is a graduate of the Technical University Delft. She studied Information Technology and Marketing Management. Liesbeth worked for several multinationals in different disciplines. Her latest corporate position was Senior Director at Philips Design, which she exchanged for becoming an entrepreneur two years ago. Since then she founded and led multiple start-ups and won several entrepreneurship competitions, among which ‘Start-up Weekend Eindhoven’ as “Most Innovative Start-up” in 2011 (www.wiehaalt.nl). More on Liesbeth.
